Mary Barber

Employee Engagement Manager  

Mary joined FUND Consulting in 2024, bringing over 15 years of experience in employee support and engagement, including work in Employee Assistance Programs. She holds a BA in Psychology from Millikin University and an MS in Educational Psychology–Community Counseling from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, along with LCPC licensure and CEAP certification. Mary is also a certified MBTI practitioner and leads initiatives related to engagement, recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workplace culture.

Luigi Botrugno

Data Analyst  

Luigi joined FUND Consulting in 2024 as an Associate Consultant and is now a Data Analyst. He specializes in TM analysis, TLR’s and BEA. He holds a degree in International Relations from Coventry University, Birmingham UK, where he conducted research focused on corruption and competitiveness in resource-rich countries. His prior experience includes government-backed research on the impacts of COVID-19 across industries.

Operations Manager

Amanda joined FUND Consulting in 2024 with experience managing operations for remote teams and leading in the nonprofit sector. Amanda supports organizational operations, including AI initiatives and contributes to mission-driven initiatives outside of work. She holds a BA from Texas State University with additional business coursework.

Amanda Upthegrove

Associate Consultant

Amanda joined the CDFI field and FUND Consulting in 2026 with experience in data analysis across healthcare, public, and private sectors. She specializes in financial and healthcare data, reporting, and dashboard development. She holds a Master’s in Intelligence & Analysis from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s in International Affairs from Florida State University.

Managing Consultant   

Lyndsey joined FUND Consulting in 2024, bringing experience in lending compliance and community development. She has held roles in compliance oversight, loan auditing, and federal reporting, and she manages all aspects of CDFI compliance. Lyndsey holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Western Governors University and a Master’s in Compliance and Risk Management from Drake University Law School.

Kimberly joined FUND Consulting in 2024, bringing more than 20 years of experience in program development, grant management, and community engagement. She has led initiatives across the nonprofit and public sectors and previously served as a grant writer and manager. Kimberly supports client strategy, engagement, and relationship management. She also hosts FUND’s monthly webinars and weekly Friday FUND Connect. Kimberly holds degrees in Chemistry from Dillard University, Public Health from University of Arkansas Medical Sciences College of Public Health, and World Languages from University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

Ornella Kelly 

Managing Consultant

Ornella joined FUND in 2023 with a background in research and community development, including six years supporting social impact initiatives. Her experience spans grant writing and project implementation across Caribbean communities. At FUND, Ornella has led targeted webinars to strengthen capacity building, funding readiness, and CDFI certification efforts for sector stakeholders, including the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs and organizations participating in NeighborWorks America (NWA) Financial Assistance (FA) and certification processes. For the African American Alliance of CDFI CEOs Certification Webinar Series, FUND Consulting designed and delivered a multi-session program guiding emerging and existing CDFIs through the certification process. The series provided both strategic context and practical, step-by-step guidance, including navigating the CDFI Certification application and submission requirements. Ornella holds a B.S. in International Relations from the University of the West Indies and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Riley Melton

Consultant  

Riley joined FUND Consulting in 2024. His experience includes internships focused on CDFI research, grant applications, and loan portfolio analysis. Riley added incredibly valuable skills and insights to his repertoire during his time at CDFI Friendly America. Riley gained invaluable expertise by learning about CDFI growth from pillars of the CDFI industry, Mark Pinsky and Adina Abramowitz, and worked primarily to expand CFA’s marketing and outreach strategies. He specializes in FUND dashboards and market analysis. Riley holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

Dan Sloan (he/him/his)

Special Consultant

 

Dan joined FUND Consulting in 2015 and is an expert at CDFI Certification, FATA, CMF, CDFI Fund compliance, and development and consolidation of CDFIs. Over the past 11 years, he has traveled widely to industry conferences and client visits and has directly worked with more than 50 CDFIs. He holds a BA degree in Economics from Northwestern University and joins FUND teams on special projects.

Derek Smith (he/him/his)

ECIP Specialist

Derek brings experience in data analysis and compliance within financial and community development sectors. He specializes in reporting, auditing, and GIS applications and supports clients with federal and state reporting requirements. He is an expert in ECIP compliance and has worked at CU Strategic Planning with expertise in all aspects of CDFI compliance. Derek holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Purdue University.

Laura Sweeny (she/her/hers)

Managing Consultant 

Laura joined FUND Consulting in 2023, bringing experience in grants management, research, and nonprofit development. Laura focuses on strategic initiatives, funding development and grant research. She is a subject matter expert in Theory of Change and spearheads FUND’s strategic projects team. Laura presented a Serving Creative Economy Businesses forum at Small Business Finance Forum (SBFF) in 2026. Laura holds a BA in Art History from the University of Chicago.

 

 

 

Leila Youssef

Consultant

Leila joined FUND Consulting in 2023. Leila specializes in emerging CDFIs and has a background in international development and social entrepreneurship. She has experience in impact investing and community development. Leila holds a Master of Science from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Economics from University of San Francisco.
